Last year Parajuru became our go to day trip, this year it’ll be home! Parajuru offers what we think is special about Brazil. You’ve got the persistent wind, the true atmosphere and ambience of Brazil without a village packed full of foreign kiters, the amazing medley of to die for exotic fruits, delicious sea food, gigantic advocados, incredible steak, tasty chicken, road side BBQs, cold beers, divine Caipis, sand, waves, windmills, flat water. We’ve been from pillar to post searching out an enjoyable combination of full on kite clinic and real down time South American holiday and this one is ticking all the boxes, and is only 120 km south of Fortaleza.
The kiting here rocks. In simple terms the conditions depend on the tide, yup it’s all about planetary alignment. Mid to low tide and back again offers a huge area of flat water. Once the tide gets high you can still find butter upwind in the river mouth. More importantly though, because the beach shelves so gently, you have a mixture of fun sized waves and flat spots, with a fun slashable wave further out on the sand bar. In fact further down wind there is an actual surf spot where in the right conditions, the local rippers can been seen pulling airs on old beaten up half surfboards – no gear but all the idea. With such varied conditions the place is a veritable playground whether your busting it out on a twin tip or surf board. The wind blows cross-shore in the morning and then as is the way in NE Brazil it swings cross-on in the afternoon. Here at Parajuru it doesn’t swing onshore. We’ll be storing out kit at the club, which is super laid back and very welcoming.
Accommodation wise this year we’ve opted for private houses, which are modern and well equipped. Don’t fret though as breakfast and cleaning are included. Two of the houses have swimming pools, and as we’ll be sharing only amongst our group we have an HQ, where we’ll be enjoying the video debriefs, the odd BBQ, and plenty of fun around the pool. Sure we can keep a few cold ones in the fridge and keep Christian busy with his much practised and perfected Caipi mix – only Ypioca Ouro will do apparently. The houses are quite literally just a hop and a skip from each other and just a few minutes walk to the club.
On the clinic front, we will both as usual be out there morning and afternoon, maximising your time on the water and allowing you to enjoy and learn at your own pace. Due to the conditions we’ll be running a freetyle/wave clinic, which basically means whatever you want, twin tip, wave board, both! So from jumping, carving, looping, kiteloops, transitions, unhooking, raleys, passes, strapless, gybing, taking, waveriding, surfboard airs. Don’t worry if you don’t have a surfboard as we’ll have some fine Cabrinha shapes for you to try.
This year we’ve got two options, both leaving the UK late on Friday the 2nd of November. If you’re coming from elsewhere in the world you should aim to arrive in Fortaleza on Saturday the 3rd. You can then either (a) take six days off work, stay for 8 nights and enjoy 7 days of coaching, or (b) go the full nine yards, take 10 days off, stay for 14 nights and make the most of 12 days of coaching.
Cost are:
Option (a) double or twin in HQ £755
Option (b) double or twin in HQ £1310
Option (a) single £805
Option (b) single £1390
Extras will be transfers, storage and any excursions or buggies…!
