It must be almost a decade ago that we first did this trip with Philou, aboard his old Turkish Ketch, the Rosanante. The boat may have changed, some of the crew too, but the trip and its magic never get old, and boy did we have fun this year. From some amazing times on the water to film worthy quotes off it, we could write a short about this one:) As always the food was great, with Mahmud the chef giving us plenty of lessons on fishing for dinner, and the limpet ringo riding technique one light afternoon! Amr looked after us splendidly with the rib, always smiling, uber helpful:) Cheffe the mechanic remains the squiddage sensei. And of course who’ll forget Philou’s confident Queen of Spades during a french round of 99!!! Or Alex’s 72 you … for that matter. On the water there were plenty of strapless cherries lost, the surfboards getting a good workout. Toby and Felix got themselves airborne whilst displaying some beautiful surfy carves and solid toeside. Many of the gents, Tim and Mojo, launching into the air, chasing their boys, with only the odd harsh landing, with some fine carving and the odd air gybe for good measure. Alex did himself proud, claiming some tacks, getting his weight nicely forward on the strapless carves and of course showing some decent twin tip jumping, AND who’ll forget his deadly Margaritas. Smithy polished his jumping to new heights, great air and now with some very cheeky grabs to boot. Mr Big Air Edmonds quite literally didn’t stop, plenty of grabs, BLTs, one foots and board offs – the camera never lies. Luis was also generally somewhere up there, spinning, looping, down looping, rotating from toeside – you name – and he also does a fine line as sommelier. Darren nailed the front but his piece de la resistance was the unhooked raley – in the bag. And as for Oscar, we’re not sure which was better, his lovely front loops, or his celebration – awesome. This year we didn’t get the Dolphin visit on the way up north, but the night of phosphorescence more than made up for it – thanks to Tim’s eagle eyes. With all lights off on the boat, the amazing underwater show kept many of us in the sea for way to long during the night. Spectacular:) We’ll draw the line here – we could go on but the memories for those on board will hopefully not fade too soon. Once again, a la prochaine!
